I’ve come to realize that there’s the subject I paint, and then there’s what I’m really painting underneath all of it: how I wish to feel. Like an actor who must fully inhabit their character, I’ve discovered that to paint calm, I must embody calm. To paint confidence, strength, effortless beauty—I must live inside these feelings while I work. What goes onto the canvas isn’t just representation; it’s transmission. Over these past months, while the world has felt increasingly chaotic, and I needed to feel something better,  I started painting this body of work you see in this collection, all offering the same invitation into calm, strength, and beauty: My nature-inspired abstracts came from dappled light on water, reflections, and trees overhead. These distill to effortless beauty, natural ease, the strength of growing things. The feeling of being held by trees and water. My stripe paintings might seem different at first, but they come from the same place. These are about strong structure, confident clarity, and visual order. They’re calm and strong at once.
